Our Mission
Our mission here at Charity's Vegan Kitchen is to build a community with our customers and followers who enjoy plant-based foods and those who support a vegan lifestyle. You don't have to be vegan to share in this community with us. Change starts with every one of us, choosing vegan alternatives or even just one vegan meal a day can have a huge impact on our world. And you might just be surprised at how much what you crave and what your body wants can change after just a few small changes.
We aim for a mostly "whole foods" plant-based diet, but life can get busy, and we understand that too, so we don't discriminate against some processed foods, and we use some here too however the goal is always "fresh is best". And while we always try to use sugar alternatives, we are not against using pure cane sugar and even brown sugar, for us it's all about a balance of what we eat. You don't support processed foods, no problem you can swap ingredients for your preferred alternatives or simply move on to another page that may better suit your needs. We believe in balance, and everything in moderation, too much of anything, even the good stuff can be bad for you.
With our shop, you can purchase many of our favorite baking mixes to bake at home with your loved ones at your convenience, our pancake mixes are exceptionally popular and we offer a variety of soft set fruit jams, dried seasonings, hot cocoa mix and are always working on adding more options. For local order we also offer baked items. Our products are always crafted with compassion, quality ingredients, and love.
Some of my children will be joining me in some of the blog videos, we cook together as a family, and we want to share that with you. We will create amazing food, talk about useful tips in the kitchen, and much more, and always be available to answer your questions, and the best of all is to have fun together. We are open to conversations and requests of what recipes we can create or convert and veganize so feel free to reach out, we look forward to hearing from you.
Let's be respectful and kind to one another; the world needs more love and light and we can illuminate it together.
MEET CHARITY
Welcome to Charity’s Vegan Kitchen!
I'm Charity, I am a mom, wife, sister, friend, and Chef, and I am so excited to be on this journey with you! I have the privilege of being a mom to seven (7) great kids, they are my greatest gifts and treasures in this life.
In 2015 I graduated from the International Baking and Pastry program at Lincoln Culinary Institute, President's List in West Palm Beach, Florida. I was also the owner of V2 Baked Vegan Bakery, a licensed home-based bakery where I specialized in Specialty Cakes, pastries and catering, and we participated in Green Markets and other events. In December 2022, I closed my bakery after my youngest child was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. That is Tobias and he had just turned two. It was a very difficult decision however it was the right decision for my family.
Having a food blog has been on my bucket list since I transitioned to veganism. It was time to tap into another part of myself to share my love of food differently. I am bringing to life some projects I had in progress before closing my bakery, and I can now offer some amazing products for you to enjoy, every single item crafted with care, compassion, and love!
My family is from Cuba, I was raised by my grandparents who migrated to the US when my mother was just a child. My grandfather was an amazing cook, I have great respect for my grandfather's skills in creating amazing food, he just instinctively knew what foods and seasonings to use without using any recipes, I found that same gift within myself and take great pride in creating amazing meals, especially having converted many of our traditional Cuban meals into vegan versions. In Cuban culture, the flavors are bold, which you may notice in my recipes.
I have been on a journey to a plant-based life since I was a child, but I didn't understand it or wasn't able see that path clearly. One day in 2017, I watched a video about what truly happens to a baby calf after it is born, it was something I could never unsee. It changed my life forever and I knew I could never be a part of that again, so my journey began. It was soul deep transformation; I knew I would never be the same again.
Choosing a cruelty-free life with compassion and love has been such a gift of grace for my family. My husband and five of my children transitioned too. We have been a fully vegan household for over seven years and that brings me immense joy and I am excited to share that with you!
